It´s the Final Countdown - Ibiza

Tuesday, July 1, 2014

Depressing, but true. I only have a few days left in this amazing city.
It always blows my mind how fast the weeks go by, because at the same time, I feel like I´ve been here for forever. I´m really not ready to leave, but I´m gonna make sure to come back soon.

To celebrate my last full weekend in Europe, I took a short flight to a little place called Ibiza.

The island itself is gorgeous (just look).I mean, it´s in the middle of the Mediterranean, so yeah, it´s gonna be amazing. The sad thing is that I wasn´t even there for a full 48 hours, so I had to cram in quite a bit.

Jackie and I landed Friday night, and we went and left our stuff at the apartment we were staying at,(PTL for Airbnb) went to get food, and then proceeded to get ready to go out. Ibiza is known for its crazy nightlife, and it didn´t disappoint... I can blame this place for ruining every other club for me. We went to one called Amnesia that night, and guysss it was insane. Massive. Crazy. The music was so loud that it probably damaged my ear drums. But so worth it.

The next day we went on a boat party cruise thing...basically a booze cruise. It was so nice to be on the beautiful water and just enjoy the sun all day. It was also great to be able to meet people for all over! We got to ride jet skis, and banana boats, as well as just swim in the ocean. The water was the most amazing temperature, that I probably could have spent all day in it. Which is why I don´t hate my friend Kim that much for telling a Spaniard to force me to jump in with him.

All in all, it was a really great day. But when night time came around, trying to rally to go back out was a struggle. A real huge struggle. Around 3 am (yup that late) we actually managed to leave the apartment and go to this other club called Space. On the way there though, our taxi driver took us on a little detour because he wanted to show us something...

When he first told us, I was mentally preparing myself to be sold into sex slavery or something.(jk..kinda) But he ended up taking us to this little beach that was kind of in the middle of nowhere. He said that he wanted to show us that Ibiza wasn´t just about the parties, alcohol, and drugs. That there was more to the island. And standing by the beach, listening to the waves crash, and looking up to see the most stars that I have in a while, I needed zero convincing. It was stunning, and honestly something I´ll never forget. Because amidst all of the hustle and bustle, it was incredible to have something like that humble you a little.

The next day, with only a few hours left on the island, Jackie and I decided to go enjoy the beach for a little. It was relaxing to just sit and enjoy the sun. The beach we picked also had this random restaurant that had such good Paella and a hot dog that we were both obsessed with, and had also gotten the day before. Always letting food influence our decisons.

And just like that, it was back to Barcelona. I was sad to leave, but also so excited because my lil bro Pablo was finally there!! I took him to dinner, back to La Bombeta so he could have some good sangria. After work yesterday, I met up with him and we went to go get some churros con chocolate.
The place we went to is called Granja Dulcinea, which is supposed to have some of the best churros in the city. It didn´t disappoint.

Afterwards, I took Pablo up to Park Guell. The sun was setting, so it was especially pretty, and gave me a different view from the last time I had been up there. When we left, we were both starved, so we walked around another favorite neighborhood of mine, Gracia, until we found a restaurant. For just picking a random restaurant, it was actually realllyyy good, so I was pleasantly surprised.

Instead of thinking of the fact that I´m leaving so soon, I´m just trying to enjoy the rest of my time here. I am super SUPER pumped though because, thanks to my internship, I get to go to Barcelona Fashion Week for a day!!!! And actually sit and watch a fashion show. Which is basically my version of heaven. I couldn´t ask for a better way to end my time at my internship!

Also, now that Mexico is out of the World Cup, I´ll be praying extra hard that the US wins tonight. If you aren´t watching, you´re wrong...
